Arlington is a city in Tarrant County, Texas, with in the Dallas- fort worth-Arlington metropolitan area. Arlington is the seventh largest city in the Texas, Located approximately 12 miles east of down town Fort Worth and 20 miles west of downtown Dallas. Arlington is home to the University of Texas at Arlington, the Texas Ranger’s ball park in Arlington, cow boy stadium, the international bowling campus and well known amusement park six flags over the Texas.

Amusement park or theme park are totally different from a simple city park and play ground. It is a term for group of rides and other entertainment attractions assembled for the purpose of entertaining large number of people. The famous amusement park in Arlington is six flags over the Texas regarded most visited amusement park in Texas.

Six flags over the Texas


Six Flags over Texas is a major theme park located in Arlington, Texas between Dallas and Fort Worth. Situated on 212 acres, the park is divided into eight individual themed sections †Mexico and Spain, Texas, Tower, Old South and France, Looney Tunes USA, Boomtown, Goodtime Square, and Gotham City. Six Flags over Texas has more 50 rides, shows and attractions, including twelve roller coasters and five water rides.

A Texas-sized water park, Hurricane Harbor features the Tornado funnel ride, the Surf Rider simulated wave maker, the Surf Lagoon wave pool, Hook's Lagoon, an interactive water play area for the young kiddos, and the usual water park complement of water slides. The water park is across the street from Six Flags over Texas, but each park requires a separate admission.

Park History


The original park of the Six Flags chain was founded by Angus G. Wynne in 1961. Inspired by the success of Disneyland, Wynne decided to build a theme park of his own. Planning for the park began in 1959 with Wynne and the Great Southwest Corporation leading the development. After an investment of 10 million dollar and a year of construction Six Flags Over Texas officially opened to the public on August 5, 1961.The park's name comes from the six different nations' flags that have flown over the state of Texas †France, Mexico, Spain, The Republic of Texas, The Confederate States of America, and the United States of America.
