Check if the product includes any ingredients that could be harmful for your dog's health. Also, if the product includes meat spinoff, chicken by-product, poultry by-product meat and bone meal in the first five ingredients, then you must refrain from the product.

Ingredients alone aren't going to be of much use. You must also be aware of the nutritive cost of these ingredients. Balanced nutrition is an absolute must if you want your dog to remain fit. Check out the calorie count of each of the products that your dog eats. Foods with high calorie content are not recommended for your dog. Refer to a nutrition chart available from vet to find the perfect nutritive balance for your canine friend.

It is vital that your dog food meets the nutrient requirements of your pet. Obviously, depending on its breed, your dog may require anywhere between moderate to highly nutritive food. Little and accessory dogs need carbs, lots of carbs. Larger breeds need a large amount of carbohydrates along with high levels of vitamins and vitamins. Another important thing in this context is additives. Almost always dog food which is ready to be rich in preservatives which may not be good for your pet's health. These additives as present in the dog food have the potentiality of causing in a condition of cancer in the canines. You should always go in for dog foods which have chemicals in the form of Vitamin C and Vitamin A.

Look for APHIS documentation. Dog foods that are guaranteed by APHIS are a safer bet than the ones that come without authentication. APHIS certified dog foods make use of human grade ingredients. So, with these foods, you may be totally assured that they won't harm your dog. Besides, you can also consult your pet about the food brands that would work fine for your pet.
