It is not a very pleasant habit and one definitely requires stopping that habit. Nail biting is usually done when under stress or boredom or excitement or inactivity. Nail biting happens to be one of the most common of the typical nervous behavior". It is common among people of all ages.

Why is nail biting not recommended?

Nail biting usually results in the bacterium that is buried in the surface of your nail entering your mouth. That's obviously harmful to you and your body. Also, nail biting cause your skin on the top of your fingers to become very sensitive. A lot of the times, you land up swallowing your finger nails which is extremely unhygienic.

You need to stop nail biting:

As seen above, it is not a habit that one should practice. You need to stop nail biting. It is doing your body harm; no good can come from it. Stop nail biting, it is not the answer you are looking for when under stress or when you are nervous.

Is it easy to break out from the nail biting habit?

For some people it is not too tough to break from this habit. You can try getting your nails manicured and keeping them clean and filled. This should help keep you from biting your nails. Maybe polishing your nails can keep you from biting them. Men can wear a clear polish. You can even try putting on fake nails that may keep you away from any temptation. Just make a conscious effort to do something else instead of biting your nails when you feel stressed.

For those who have a slightly more serious condition and for those who experience blood due to this activity, don't worry there is a cure for you too. You need to stop nail biting.
