How To Ease The Squeeze With Ebay Pulse And Fine Tune Your Research For Successful Sales

By: Barry Wells Home | Internet-and-Business | Auctions

Have you ever wondered why it is that some people make really good money on eBay when you can not make regular sales yourself? Frustrated and banging your head against the wall trying to figure it out? If so keep reading and i will try to explain the (not so) secret to their success.

There are all sorts of people that list all sorts of items for sale on eBay. There are those that list successfully and those that list items unsuccessfully.

There could be a number of reasons for unsuccessful listings:

  • Poor sales title

  • High postage charges

  • Poor quality, or no photo of the item

  • Poor sales letter

  • Silly terms and conditions of sale

  • No Returns policy

  • Poor feedback

  • Listings ending at the wrong time

Or it could simply be the item is not in demand. If you list the same items over and over again without the success you long for, try doing an advanced search of completed listings and see if that item is actually selling. If they are not selling then why bother to list them? Why not move onto items that are in demand?

Q, How do you fine out what is in demand on eBay?

The key thing to consider is Research.

Check the Pulse:
eBay has its own research tools, one of them is the eBay Pulse which shows you what people are currently searching for. The eBay Pulse is a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks and cool stuff on eBay. It starts with the top ten most searched for items.

So the next time you have the opportunity to kick your shoes off and relax do not waste your time watching the repeats on the telly. Grab yourself a coffee, pull up to your PC with a pen and some paper and get ready to make some notes. To find the eBay pulse all you need to do is click in your browser and enter pulse.ebay followed by your local extension, be it .com for the US or .co.uk for the UK.

On the first page of the Pulse it shows you the most popular searches, the largest shops and the most watched items. At the bottom, just beneath the most watched items, you will find see more eBay pulse categories, click on that link and you will be taken to a category list. On the left it shows the main categories and on the right it shows the sub-categories. When you find one of interest click the link and see what results are there for the most searched and watched items.

Please bear in mind that rather than trying to please everybody, you are much better off trying to find a niche market that you can specialise in and sell the potential customers exactly what they want, time after time.
