The literature of any language plays a great role in the broadening of the horizon of the human mind. In this era, we know that out of almost all the nations, the Pakistanis are lacking behind. Along with other things, if they start to read the literature of their own language, Urdu, there is a hope that their minds will be opened and enlightened. Nevertheless, the question is that how to make the masses willing to read the Urdu literature. Several steps should be taken to develop the habit of reading Urdu literature among the nations. 1. Improving the literacy rate The biggest problem of Pakistan is that its population is not literate. The government keeps on lying about the literacy rate. The number of the people who can actually read Urdu is extremely low. Improving the literacy rate of Pakistan should be the biggest preference of the government. However, the Pakistanis have always been unfortunate when it comes to the government and its policies. 2. Conducting reading workshops The publishing houses must conduct reading workshops to encourage reading among the people. Establishing free reading rooms in the bookshops is also a good idea. Other than that, the libraries should also be established. The membership of the libraries should not be exclusive. 3. Making the Urdu newspapers rampant In many countries, the masses are trained to read the newspapers. We must follow the example of Bangladesh in this regard. In the streets of Bangladesh, the people paste the whole newspaper on the walls every day, so that the passerby people may read it free of cost. 4. Developing the taste for the Urdu stories Any person is not trained by birth to enjoy the stories. Often the parents develop this taste in their children. If a child were told stories by his or her parents in the childhood, he or she would definitely develop taste for the stories. The young children should be encouraged to read books on different topics. 5. Introducing originality to the Urdu literature Some people, especially the urban population do not want to read the Urdu literature because they say that the ideas are always lifted from the English literature. Therefore, their point is that why should not they read the original version. The Urdu writers should be trained and encouraged to produce original stuff to make the urban population revert to Urdu literature. 6. Eliminating plagiarism form the Urdu literature The plagiarism is rampant in the Urdu literature. This is a huge reason why the good writers in Pakistan are discouraged to write. If the plagiarism is eliminated the writers will write continuously with confidence. 7. Controlling the prices of the Urdu books Pakistan is suffering badly by the inflation. The prices of the paper are too high. As a result, the prices of the books are also high. Other than that, the books of the popular writers are just too expensive. Therefore, there should be a movement to reduce the price of the Urdu books, so that the people can buy them easily.
