How To Find The Ideal Beginner Violin Lessons

By: Pamelina Siow Home | Arts-and-Entertainment

It will take a formal violin class to teach a person to be a great violin player. Although some people may tell you that online courses are enough, many other experts will advise you to take actual physical lessons where you can have a teacher to guide you in person.

There's a big difference when you have a teacher beside who can scold you after every mistake made. This will help you develop into a better player, since you've become accustomed to an authority who keeps on telling you all the right things.

So how can you find an ideal violin lesson for beginners? It's really not that hard since there are many qualified teachers who can teach you the tricks inside and out. You just have to look for them, as there are also incompetent violinists passing for a professional teacher.

The easiest way to find a good teacher is by asking your friends about theirs. However, you have to make sure that your friend does learn from the teacher and continually improve in his playing. Ask who his teacher is and also how he feels about his teacher's method of instruction.

Also, one way to get a good violin teacher is to contact your local symphony director or conductor. I'm sure there are many in your area who works part-time as an instructor. Remember that not all good players are good teachers. You should interview him and ask for credentials and references. Also try him out for some lessons. If indeed, he improved you or your child's playing skills, you can hire him for long-term lessons.

To make it convenient for you or your child, you can negotiate for the time you want. This is an important part of getting an ideal lesson. If the time is not convenient, try another teacher who can accommodate clients at your preferred schedule.

If it is your child who will take the beginner violin lessons, you can ask his school if they offer it to their students. Some regular schools have music lessons incorporated in their curriculum. If that's the case, then apply your child for the violin lesson. It's free lessons, and you're assured of the quality of teaching being provided.

However, if you really prefer an online beginner's course, you still can. Just find a good instructor who can teach the most basic up to the level you currently want to learn. There is a correct way of holding the bow so even this should be taught in detail.

The video you will buy should also have perfect audios and visuals; else the beginner violin lesson is really of no use. Finally, the lessons should definitely include some exercise materials for the student to learn. A major part of learning is practice, and you should be able to do just that.

As you can see, there are many ways to study the violin. Don't limit yourself to a teacher who might not even be good at his job. The violin is a great instrument, but it is only at its best when played beautifully and perfectly.
