How To Impact The Overall Health Of Your Skin

By: Louise Forrest Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

Magnesium Sulfate, commonly referred to and sold as Epsom Salt, has incredible health advantages which impact skin. This pure mineral compound in a crystal form is a great organic form of skin care; it exfoliates and smoothes skin as well as reducing inflammation.

Aside from the effects it has on the skin, soaking in it allows your body to absorb magnesium, a mineral which most people are deficient with todays diets. Years ago, ground was rich in this mineral, allowing produce to absorb it during growth, but this is no longer the case.

Proper levels of magnesium are known to raise serotonin (raises mood), offset adrenaline (allows relaxation & reduces irritability and stress), regulates electrical impulses through the nervous system, and lowers blood pressure. These allow the body to handle day-to-day stress, which is known to affect the skin, especially in people with eczema and psoriasis.

Epsom Salt (magnesium sulfate) also helps in the production of ATP, this body produced chemical directly affects energy in cells, allowing better cell production and raising your daily energy and stamina. Soaking for at least 12 minutes, two to three times per week, in a bath of 2 or three cups of Epsom Salt in your warm (not hot) bath water gives these advantages through the magnesium absorbed through the skin. Studies show that magnesium levels are raised better through soaking than through ingestion of supplements.

All of the above, as well as the following benefits affect your skins health and appearance. The other benefits of proper magnesium levels which, it turn affect your skin, include:

Helps that ability to use natural insulin, helping prevent diabetes or reduce severity.

Helps maintain current calcium levels in the blood which is the main conductor for the bodys electrical impulses; this helps in cases which require careful thought, as well as those which tend to cause high stress.

Cleans heavy metals and toxins from your cells, helping muscle pain and ridding the body of harmful substances (which often tend to store themselves in the skin and fatty tissues).

Prevents hardening of the arteries, reduces blood clots, and reduces irregular heartbeat. Thing things, along with the above mentioned lower blood pressure, give you better health in your circulation system, helping rid internal toxins, and increase cell production.

Mixing a tiny bit of Epsom Salt with an organic cleansing cream will work wonders for anti aging. This organic skin treatment helps you prevent early aging signs by removing a variety of environmental attackers. Another way to achieve these results is through the following deep cleaning once or twice a week.

Normal to dry skin should be treated with the following ingredients mixed together, and applied to slightly wet skin. Leave the mask on until dry, remove with warm water.
1/4 cup finely grated carrot
1 and 1/2 teaspoons real mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon Epsom Salt

For Skin that is normal to oily, mix the following ingredients and apply to a slightly wet face. The mask should remain until dry. Remove with warm water.
1 tablespoon cognac
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon Epsom Salt
juice from a lemon
1/4 cup non fat dry milk

Further organic skin care that can be done with Epsom Salt is body exfoliation. Mix the ingredients and rub dry skin patches well. You may just want to use this organic skin care on a regular basis. You will need:

Ingredients
2 cups Epsom Salt
1/4 cup petroleum jelly
4 or five drops lavender essential oil

You can make your own bath crystals for yourself and loved ones, too. By soaking in warm water (not hot) and two cups of these bath salts three times a week, a great organic skin care that has the multitude of health benefits listed above will be enjoyed. Mix all ingredients and put in airtight container. Now you have a great gift that will benefit your loved one in many wonderful ways! You will need:

Airtight container, big enough to hold at least 6 cups.

Epsom Salt. Measure in 2 cup increments.
Fragrance (use one your recipient likes and you can use mens fragrances for them as well). You will need 4 to 5 drops for every 2 cups of Epsom Salt.
Glycerin. Use 1/2 teaspoon for every 2 cups of Epsom Salt.

For a great spa treatment that is used in many high end salons and spas, massage handfuls of Epsom Salt over wet skin to exfoliate. This massage should be done for 5 to 10 minutes, making sure to continuously massage the entire body.
