How To Install Plastic Guttering

By: Charlie Board Home | Home-and-Family | Home-Improvement

Like with all maintenance projects, if you’re not entirely confident in order ability to replace or repair your gutters, you should probably leave it to the professionals; however, if you do fancy installing some plastic guttering off your own bat then you’ll actually find the process fairy simple †and rewarding!

One of the great things about plastic guttering is that it is a uniquely affordable solution when you need to repair your iron gutters, and with the use of coupling and adaptors the finished product can not only be effective, but also long lasting.

The first step when changing or replacing your guttering is to remove the old or broken gutters; this is at least a two man job and should be done with special care in regards to ladder safety †if your removing old iron gutters this can be particularly dangerous as they can be heavy and you might find that old screws have rusted into place, which would require some sawing off.

Once your old gutters are removed, you need to coordinate exactly where you will install your new gutters, paying special attention to they drainage points, ensuring that once the guttering is installed it will do its job!

Finally, you should be ready to install your gutters †if you don’t have any gutter brackets installed then you will need to install them †you should start by attaching your gutters to the running outlet, then into your fascias; for your subsequent gutter pieces, you should attach them to the previous piece via a union bracket, and then attach them to the fascia, once this is done along the length of the roof, you need to apply an â€end stop†ensuring that water is released via the drainage points when it rains.
