How To Keep Mold Off Of Your Food

By: Aydan Corkern Home |

Did you know that mold can grow on food whether it is in the refrigerator or sitting on the counter? Mold can cause food poisoning, and it can mess up your digestive system and make it not work the way it\'s supposed to. It makes you sick, nauseous, can put you in the hospital, and it can spread to other foods or other areas in your house. Do not keep food in the refrigerator for more than three days because after that it is bad and mold will grow on it. It can grow on it whether it is in a container or if it is covered up.

The mold will smell and it will look gray, white, green, and black. The mold takes the nutrients out of the food and starts to decay it. It can grow on meats, bread, fruits, noodles, in any kind of drink, cheese, and many other foods. It makes fruits soft and wrinkly, it decays it from the inside out, and it brings bugs in the house. If there is mold on your food, you will need to throw it out before it spreads or gets worse. Containers can even get mold in it if it is not opened; it is because the food is spoiled. Look at the food before you buy it. Check it over carefully.

If you leave fruits in the bag, it will not last long and mold will grow on it fast because of the gas in the fruit. The mold can look like little fine hairs on big pouches and the smell is unbearable. It can make your eyes water and your nose curl. It also can release toxins into the air, which can also cause illness, irritation, rashes, make you break out in hives, and it can make you swell up. The smell from the mold can linger through the house, and it can make your whole house smell, which can also cause problems.

It can also turn food different colors. When the mold gets on soda pop, milk, tea, or any other beverage, it will set on the top layer of it and spread all the way across it and around it. Mold will also grow on the containers that the food is in, and you will have to wash it thoroughly or you can throw it away. It can grow on any surface like plastic and glass, but you might want to throw the plastic away because of the bacteria it has or is inside of it. You have to watch your food and if it starts to go bad, get rid of it before mold grows on it.
