How To Keep Spyware In Check

By: IC Home | Computers-and-Technology | Software

If your computer is working unusually slowly or you are encountering many unwanted pop up’s, desktop icons or toolbars then watch out; your PC may be spyware infected. Spyware is software that gets installed in your computer while you are surfing the net. These spyware get dropped on your PC by malicious websites and miscreants. Spywares cause data theft and corrupt your system. If you do not fix the problem in time it will keep on spreading and may cause your system to crash.

From E-mail attachments to mp3 downloads to file sharing sites; spywares can come from anywhere you have to be careful about what sites you are surfing. Even experienced users can get spywares on their computer. Anti-virus softwares and firewall cannot do much to stop them either. Some spywares are so smart that they de-activate the anti-virus protection. This will leave you exposed to virus attacks as well without you even knowing it.

There is a simple solution to keep spywares in check. Download spyware remover programs from the net free of cost and allow them to scan your computer. They will scan, detect and remove any spyware programs that are operating inside your computer. These spyware remover programs compare the spyware found on your PC with the data base of known spyware. Such databases are constantly upgraded with the latest spyware as well as other security threats. So scanning your PC for spyware threats every now and then is a good method of keeping spyware in check. Some anti-spyware programs work like anti-virus programs. They are always running on your computer checking for harmful files and potential security threats.

To protect yourself from spyware attacks there are a few things that you must always remember. Do not go to a site of whose legitimacy you are not sure. Do not download illegal movies, video clips and music files. Do not open file attachments like funny videos or cute messages from unknown sources. If you see a pop up window do not click on it. Just close it. Do not download software from lesser known or unreliable sites. If you are taking all these precautions you are minimizing the spyware threat to your PC to a great extent.
