You've probably seen quite a few websites where people are selling ebooks online about something that they specialize in, or simply one of their favorite pastimes. The thing that probably really caught your attention was the Buy Now button at the bottom of the page and a sales price of $17, $27 or even $47! If you have a passion about a topic, or if you are an expert in your field, I'm sure you might be wondering how you can make an ebook that you can sell online on your own website. First thing to do is pick your topic. Profit or passion? Do you want to write about a topic that will guarantee a lot of sales like weight loss, dog training, or ending any number of bad habits? Or do you want to make an ebook about something you can write endlessly and effortlessly about like poetry, Egyptian history, or sailing the world in 80 days? Once you know your topic, you can decide on the final format that you want. You can make a PDF ebook, which is probably the easiest and most popular. You can also make an ebook using ebook creation software, which will require a little more technical skill. Or if you want total flexibility, you can make an ebook with a website editing software such as Adobe Dreamweaver or Microsoft Expression. Many times your topic and audience will determine what your ebook will look like in the end. Regardless of what you choose, you have to pick your topic and format, focus in, conduct a little research and start writing. If you are creating a PDF ebook, you will probably type it all up in Microsoft Word or your favorite word processing program. You will want to make it look nice by dividing it up into logical chapters and sections, including a table of contents. PDF ebooks will look very similar to any paper-based book. However, if you make it in an ebook creation software or HTML software, you will have to really think about how much text to put on one page, how to link the pages together, and the overall user experience for your ebook. Finally, you want to package it all up. You will definitely want to have an ecover created. This is the visual part of your ebook that makes it look and feel like a "real" book. You can have a graphic designer create or use one of the available ecover creation software packages. If you are good at using Adobe Photoshop, you can find a set of "ecover actions" that will format your ecover into a nice 3-D image.
