How To Make Money Using Ebay On Every Auction You List

By: Amanda O'Brien Home | Internet-and-Business

If you want to make money using eBay it is important to understand the key concepts that will make your auction stand out above the rest. There are many different considerations in listing your items that will give them a fighting chance amongst your competitors. Read on to discover some of the most important of these now:

Research your listing before you post

It's no good looking at equivalent items to your own after you have posted your auction because then it is too late to realise that you started your bidding too high, for example. With a quick search around some similar items to those that you are selling you'll be assured of placing your own at a realistic price which will help it to sell.

Consider when to end your auction

Understanding the mindset of an auction is the best way to know how to make money using eBay. People get carried away in auctions, especially at the last minute. It's not uncommon to see individuals bidding higher to win a used item than they would have spent buying it new from a website like Amazon. To capitalise on this desire to win that we humans have make sure that you end your auction at a time when the most people are likely to be online, for example 7pm in an evening or on a Sunday afternoon.

Write an informative and keyword-packed title

Always remember that the title of your auction is what potential buyers will see first. Write a title that doesn't inform a viewer of what your product is and they are unlikely to even click it to read your description. Make sure that you include the keywords that describe your item within your title to give prospective buyers all the information that they need. And above all else, make sure those keywords are spelt correctly!

Create a compelling description

Your description gives you the chance to shine. Include anything and everything about your product in a way that makes viewers of your auction want to make the purchase. Try not to be over the top in the way that you write but rather offer a gentle pressure that the great deal that you are offering will not be around forever. Be completely honest! If your item isn't in great condition let the people know or you will suffer for it later. Keep your formatting simple, using an attractive font and bold and italics where appropriate.

Realistically price your auctions

Although you want to make money using eBay there is no point in pricing every auction that you list out of the water. A high starting bid will make buyers less inclined to actually place a bid, even if it's quite a low price. It's a better option to place a reserve on your item if you are desperate for it to sell at a certain price as this still facilitates a potential bidding war which is the ideal scenario for any seller.
