By: Will Clark Home | Arts-and-Entertainment | Casino-Gambling

Heads up poker used to be a rare game. Poker game is designed to be played by multiple players. Casinos never encouraged playing heads up poker because they require a table and dealer for every single player †tables which can otherwise accommodate many more players. However the popularity of the game increased and with the advent of online gaming, companies started offering this game on the Internet. It became even more popular online because no live dealers or tables are required.

How to play heads up poker

This game is similar in nature to the normal poker and if you know how to play poker, you’ll be able to play heads up poker. It’s just that here there are fewer players. There are a few subtle differences thoughâ€

The game takes place using a no limit Texas hold’em format. Games which are played limit or pot limit like stud and Omaha don’t work well in the heads up play, but using these formats the game can be played. The main difference between the two types of poker games is that the small blind is on the button. This means that the small blind acts first before flop and acts last in succeeding rounds. After this the game proceeds normally.

Secret to win

It is not difficult to become a winning Heads up player. Most of the players who play online have the basic knowledge of how to play and that is usually enough if you want to win at lower limits. But if you want to play with higher stakes, you will realize that a basic strategy won’t suffice to beat the opponent. Players who are playing against you have wonderful skills much beyond the comprehension of the novice players. When a novice tries to raise his limits, he will be easily eaten up by the professional players.

Play according to your stack size

It is important that you play according to the stack size of your chips. If you have a bigger chip stack you can play more aggressively. This would force your opponent to fold more often and wait for his big hand. At the same time if you have a big hand, don’t double up on your opponent as that will show your confidence and the fact that you have a good hand.

Know your opponent

When you are playing against a player, know what kind of a player he his †is he aggressive or passive? It is good idea to play aggressively against a passive opponent in order to steal more blinds. If your opponent is aggressive then you better have good skills up your sleeve.

Make an action

Don’t take too much time to think about your next action. This will only lower your chances of going to the top. Basically if you are beginner, then loosen up because in heads up poker the player needs to be quicker and steal the majority of blinds.

If you don’t have a good strategy or don’t know the rules it will be quite hard to win the game. Once you learn the secret your chances of becoming best heads up poker player will increase.
