Pearls are considered as one of the nine precious stones of the world. Natural pearls are rare and expensive. Most women are crazy over pearl jewels as it shines well and offers incomparable beauty. Pearls, which are used now, are not real pearls. They have molded as bead and these pearls are known as cultured pearls. The cultured pearls are not formed naturally and they are formed specially for making ornaments.

Natural pearls are entirely different from cultured pearls. Pearls which are formed by living creatures naturally are known as natural pearls or real pearls. It is a delicate gem. Natural pearls are very rare to get therefore it is very expensive in the markets. Natural pearls are sold as carat weight where as the cultures pearls are sold by the unit of millimeters.

How to care for your pearls

These cultured pearly are designed as fragile in nature and therefore you have to take care of them properly. When you wear pearl jewels or necklace after you wear make up on your face and necks, it may become dirt due to the powder or lotions and my stick on to your pearl reducing the shine of your pearl. Therefore clean your pearl as soon as possible after use. Wear your pearl ring only after finishing your make ups otherwise body creams will spoil it. Clean the pearls with lint-free soft cloth.

How to wash pearls

There are mild soaps available in the market to wash the pearls in order to remove the dirt from them. Avoid using solutions especially ammonia contents to wash the pearls. Do not use harsh detergents. It is advisable not to use an ultrasonic cleaner. It is not good to rub the pearl with thick cloth. If you do so, the nacre coating the coating that gives the shining to the pearls may diminish.

How to store pearls

Always store them within specially designed jewellery box. You can use velvet box or non-abrasive metal box to keep pearls free from scratches. It is essential to restring pearl necklaces at proper intervals. You have to check whether the silk cord remains in proper shape. These cords are prone to wear and tear.
