How To Prevent Skin Aging

By: Joseph Gardener Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

Much to most women's chagrin, time takes it toll on skin. Aging shows itself in the form of tiny lines and wrinkles, a dull complexion, and sometimes circles under the eyes. Every woman has a different genetic code, so there is not really one cure all for aging skin. We know that as a person ages, the inner layer of their skin starts to thin, and becomes less elastic. There are, however, many things we can do to reduce or slow the signs of aging. Science has made great strides in recent years to unlock the magic of young looking skin. Our skin also begins to lose collagen. This is more visible on the parts of our skin which is thinner, such as around the eyes.

It is not only women who need a skin care regiment. Although many people consider lines in a man's face to look distinguished, there are men who would prefer not to have them. However, a male's skin has a different composition than a female's. Men have oilier skin, in general, which causes the aging process to act differently for them, than for women.

There are also many other things, besides genetics, which can affect how our skin ages. Here are a few examples:
1.Sunlight: The damage that UV rays from the sun cause is no secret anymore. Gone are the days of sun worshipping without protection. Sunlight has an incredibly damaging affect on skin. Stay out of the sun unless you are wearing sun screen.
2.Air Pollution: The airborne chemicals that are a part of pollution cause a multitude of skin maladies. Skin irritation and pre-mature aging of the skin are by-products of air pollution. Regular face cleansing is imperative to keeping skin looking young
3.Weight loss or gain: The amount of fatty tissue stored under our skin has an affect on how rapidly or slowly aging can occur in skin. Although not a cure-all, keeping the skin cells sloughed keeps a better tone to the skin
4.Smoking: Smoke quickly dries the sensitive areas, especially around the eyes and mouth. Obviously, quitting smoking is the best thing you can do. Until you do, moisturizer and a regular skin regiment helps.

People, mostly women, begin to notice a change in their skin as early as the age of 20. Although, not a visibly noticeable affect, there is a slowing of cellular renewal. As we progress from about 25 to approximately 40 years of age, the lines begin to deepen and become more noticeable. The earlier we can start replacing the collagen, the better; however, there are some amazing products that can even help radiate healthy skin in even older people.

The most important thing you can do is find a skin care package that works for you, is proven to help slow or reverse the signs of aging. Once you have it, use it regularly. Make it a regular routine, and your skin is sure to respond to the positive attention it is receiving!
