The time that your listing begins is also the time that it ends, so it is not good to list your items at 6am just before you go off to your day job as the chances of your market being at their computers at 6am is pretty slim. It is crucial that your items end when your potential customers are most likely to be at their computers. This is because your auction items will be coming to the top of their category as they are ending and over 80% of sales occur as the listing is ending. As most people work through the day the best times for your listings to end is between 7pm and 11pm. If however, you are aiming to sell to stay at home mums you may find day time better, as long as you work around the school runs. Friday and Saturday nights can be slow for sales as many people go out on these nights. Saturday and Sunday afternoons however can be a lot better, as more people are at home. Another way of finding the best times is to use the advanced search function. On the main eBay pages you will find the advanced search link next to the main search button. Just enter one or two keywords relating to your item, scroll down the page slightly and click on the check box for completed listings so that a small tick is displayed. Find items similar to yours that have sold, click on them and scroll down to the start of the advert, beside the gallery picture are details of the price the item sold for, the amount of bids placed on the item and the time it sold. You can schedule your start times on eBay, for a small extra charge, in the UK it is 6p while in the US I think it is 10c. However, if you are listing them one at a time it can be quite time consuming. If you are going to be selling the same items over and over then I would recommend that you use Turbo Lister, it is a free tool from eBay, all you need to do is type Download Turbo Lister into eBays help section and follow the instructions. Once set up, with all your sales pages, postal prices, accepted payment methods and returns policy, it will save you loads of time as you select the items you wish to list and schedule their start times, then upload them to eBay all at one time. It is best to stagger your start times so that you have items ending through the evening, rather than have them all end at the same time. You are far more likely to capture a bigger audience as well. When making your listings always plan ahead and look out for bank holidays and special occasions like Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Valentines Day and of course Christmas.
