How To Write Optimized Articles For The Search Engines

By: Jason Drohn Home | Internet-and-Business

Article marketing is perhaps the most important method for sending very targeted traffic to your blog or website. However, in order to get the most out of it, it's important to focus on impressing the search engines and getting organic traffic that doesn't cost you anything. But you can't expect them to send traffic to you if your articles don't play by their rules. In order to truly reap the benefits of article marketing every article you create must be search engine optimized--that's how you get a real traffic flow headed in your direction.

Never Keyword Stuff What You Create: The golden rule (or at least one of them) of writing SEO articles is to artfully weave in your chosen keywords so they seem natural. Try your best to keep the keyword density of your articles under five percent--if it gets higher than that, your articles could get in trouble. Search engines do not like articles that have been stuffed with keywords because they are hard for readers to process and they seem like spam. You need to keep your articles sensible and only include the keywords when they feel necessary. Not only do you risk angering the search engines, your articles are not likely to be approved by the article directories if they are keyword stuffed.

Have a Smooth Flow in Your Resource Box: When you are crafting the resource box for your article, be certain that the keyword phrases flow well. It should not appear that you have put keywords into your resource box just for the sake of their being there. Your readers should be able to associate the connection of your article and resource box. This means that it needs to be in its right location in every manner. Remember that the resource box for your article is very important. This is where you will try to get your visitors to visit your blog or website.

Do Not Use Incorrectly Spelled Keywords: There's a trend that many article marketers have started following, which is to include misspelled keywords in the article in order to get ranked for it. The bad thing is that the traffic you get from this type of spelling error is not a large amount.

In addition, it messes up the general quality of the article and makes it seem unprofessional. Who would want to read an article that has all types of spelling errors? You know what your intention is, but your reader doesn't. So they will simply skip the article and try to search with the right keyword.

Now that you know what you need to do to properly focus your articles for SEO it's time to focus on attracting the right audience. Getting your articles ranked higher by the search engines will ensure that more people are exposed to them. It will take some time before you can become an expert at SEO based writing but that effort will pay off well for you. Most of the writers who are having a hard time driving traffic to their sites are struggling because of poor efforts at SEO.
