How You Can Improve Putting

By: Clint Jhonson Home | Recreation-and-Sports | Golf

The easiest way to improve putting is with the help of a golf putting aid. Like in most of the things improving your game is done through massive amounts of practicing. The saying that â€practice makes perfect’ is valid in the golf world too. For the amateur player as well as for the professional practicing, golf is becoming easier and easier with the help of all the different existing golf training aids. Several golf dedicated stores offer a variety of golf aids at a wide range of prices. However if you are serious about golfing you should consider getting a golf training system.

With a golf putting aid you can dramatically improve your putting and avoid some of the most common mistakes made during putting. If you get a putting aid and start practicing every day or as often as you can, the first thing you will notice is that you develop is your routine. Developing a reliable routine is the first step toward improving your putting. Once you developed a personal routine make sure you do it before every putt. One thing to remember is that the routine should not take too long because you might end up annoying the other players. Practicing your putts often is the thing to do, but don’t go further away than 20 feet from the hole. If you look for a golf putting aid you will notice that most of them instruct you to make your putts from 6 feet or less.

Another thing you have to be careful about is the type of putts you practice and the grip style you use. Try different grips and see with which one you feel the most comfortable. It is also a good idea to change different grips from time to time to help you prevent the yips. The golf yips are sudden jerks or tremors of your body and arms that ruin your grip and thus your stroke. It is believed the yips appear because the players are not too confident in the way they play, in their skills and they get very tense. That is why it is recommended to play golf when you are calm and relaxed. To get over your yips and improve putting you can practice your putts by covering the hole so that you do not concentrate on putting the ball in the hole, but on the way you stroke the ball.

You can successfully improve your putts by carefully looking at the golf course and also watching your adversaries. If they hit their ball before you pay attention to how they ball rolls and you can better access the undulations of the greens. This is a trick a lot of people miss, because they don’t think it is important to closely follow what the other players do. If you learn to understand the course your aiming will improve because you will know what to expect from the game and which way to hit the ball. When you practice your putting at home you can put two clubs parallel and try to send the ball through the two clubs and once you hit a ball in a straight line, then you can focus on actually sending the ball in the hole. The golf aids are designed to let you improve the part of the game that you want.
