How Your Poster Audience Thinks

By: Colleen Davis Home | Business | Advertising

One of the key things that you should know in poster printing is the way your poster audience thinks. Knowing the psychology of those viewers will help you a lot in developing a good and powerful design. In fact, knowing how the reader thinks is even better than just looking at poster samples for ideas most of the time

So it is very lucky for you that in this article, I will teach you how your poster audience thinks. There are five main â€thinking points†to consider about your audience to help you adapt more in poster printing. So let us get started with the first important thinking point.

1.If it is not obvious I don’t see it †This is one of the most common attitudes that most viewers have when looking at color posters. If the poster is not immediately visible amidst its environment then they will hardly notice it. It is just a viewer’s nature to ignore anything that looks common and focus on the new and fresh things in the environment.

That is why it is important to always design your brochure to be noticeable against its natural background. Try using very unusual or bright colors to catch people’s eyes, or you can try to use very intense images that are funny, crazy, wild or awe striking. The more obvious it is to the environment, the more your customer posters will break that mindset of readers to ignore your designs.

2.If it is not interesting FOR ME it does not merit my attention †Another common way of thinking about posters relates to interest. Most audiences ignore color posters that immediately do not look interesting to them. For example, if a poster has an action scene in its designs with explosions, blood and debris and general destruction in it, then most women generally will ignore it more since they are typically not interested in seeing those things. However, a lot of men do like that kind of action and will pay extra attention to that color poster. This is how people generally think. If it does not look interesting or of concern, then it does not merit attention.

So it is crucial for you to always engage the interests of your target audience to make sure your color posters are read. Always do your market research and try to discover the usual themes and design elements that your target viewers generally like and use those elements extensively in your color posters. Believe me, this will help a lot in matching the way of thinking of your audience.

3.If it is hard to understand, there is nothing to read †Another common way audiences think relates to understanding. For most readers, if it is hard to understand, there is really nothing to read for them. No one really wants to read something that is way over their head. That is why it is important that you write your poster content as simply and as concisely as possible. The more easier your color posters are to understand, the more people will like them. It is just how most people logically think so you must always make it easier on them to understand you.

4.What’s in it for me? †Most poster readers also think about the benefit that they can gain from reading your color posters. They must know if that poster can give them a new opportunity to save on something or to get something for free. It is crucial that you always display the benefits that your poster will give the reader to make sure that they pay attention to them. So make it a point to always make those beneficial options obvious to readers.

5.What do I have to do? †Finally, All poster audiences subconsciously think and ask themselves what they have to do once they read a typical commercial poster. Do they need to go somewhere to buy the thing in the poster? Should they log on to your website to order? Should they sign a petition stated in your color posters.? If you tell your audiences what you want them to do, in most cases they will be tempted to do it. It is human nature to always think of following the stated direct first, so make sure you guide your audiences on the right path.

So that is how your poster audiences think. Hopefully these concepts have given you some insight on how to effectively design your color posters considering all these different ways that people think about them. Good Luck!
