Ignatius Piazza did not grow up in a wealthy home. Instead, he lived like many other people in our society. He received hand-me-down gifts and attended a regular public school. Perhaps it is due to his upbringing that Dr. Ignatius Piazza is the person he is today. Dr. Ignatius Piazza began his early adult life as anyone else. He did not know what he wanted to do with his life. However, in his early twenties he found himself attending chiropractor school and working as an intern in a local chiropractic clinic. After graduating and successfully obtaining his chiropractors license, Dr. Ignatius Piazza opened his own clinic in sunny California. A few years later tragedy struck California. The San Francisco earthquake occurred. Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s chiropractic clinic was located less than one mile from the epicenter. Therefore, his clinic was destroyed. After the earthquake was finished with its destruction, Dr. Ignatius Piazza was not concerned with the condition of his own possessions or his clinic. Instead he was more concerned with the safety of his employees. After he ensured that his employees were safe, he sent them home to be with their families. Dr. Ignatius Piazza then turned his attention to the citizens of San Francisco and the surrounding area. He knew there would be injuries in the thousands. Instead of standing by and allowing the injured to sit in hospitals where it could be hours before seeking medical attention, Dr. Ignatius Piazza decided he would step forward and do what he could to help. Although Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s clinic had been destroyed, he was determined to assist the injured so he drove to a local radio station and announced that he would be treating the injured in the parking lot of his clinic. He promised to provide these services free of charge. In the following days Dr. Ignatius Piazza treated hundreds of injured people. Dr. Ignatius Piazza’s generosity and giving nature has continued to expand in everything that he does. Even at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute. After the Virginia Tech shootings, Dr. Ignatius Piazza learned of the heroic efforts of one professor in particular. The professor’s name was Liviu Librescu. When the shooting began, Processor Librescu stood in the doorway, blocking the gunmen from his students. This allowed his students to safely escape the classroom through the windows. Unfortunately, his heroic actions cost Professor Librescu his life. Dr. Ignatius Piazza learned of this brave and selfless act and decided that he award each of Professor Librescu’s students Front Sight Legacy Lifetime Memberships free of charge. Each student also received four certificates that he could give to family and friends. Dr. Ignatius Piazza saw the actions of Professor Librescu as truly heroic. Although the cost of the memberships awarded is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, Dr. Ignatius Piazza understands that the professor’s family has suffered a tragic loss due to his bravery and does not want his actions to be thought of as being taken in vain. Dr. Ignatius Piazza offered the scholarship to any survivors that were in the classroom at the time of the shootings so that they can become more equipped in the event that a tragedy like the Virginia Tech massacre were to happen again.
