Plumbing is a career option where you have a choice of being self employed where you dictate your own rules and hours and work for others if you don't want the hassles involved with self-employment. Which ever option you choose, you have numerous prospects because of the shortages of plumbers. It is not a piece of cake to enter the field of plumbing. There are some courses to complete and some qualifications to be met to make it big in plumbing. To qualify as a plumber, you need to have completed the plumbing courses City and Guilds (6089) NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Plumbing and City and Guilds (6129) Technical Certificate Level 2 Basic Plumbing Skills and Level 3 Plumbing Studies. To be considered fully qualified in plumbing, you also have to complete the NVQ. However though it is not compulsory, it is rather difficult to build a good reputation than being fully qualified. To complete the NVQ, it is necessary that you be employed or have arranged a work placement. However, obtaining the training certificate that accompanies the NVQ will be a boon to you when seeking employment as employers are then more than eager to enroll you as an employee with the training you would have completed through the plumbing training. There is no specific time needed to complete the NVQ; however most people complete them in two to four years. You can complete it quickly; it all depends on the type of training you receive and how fast you are in completing the course. There are numerous means you can adopt to pursue a career in plumbing. If you are not employed in plumbing, you can complete the City and Guilds technical certificate at some college or training center. There are many training centers offering these services that you can reach through the internet or yellow pages. However if you are employed in plumbing and not qualified to climb up the plumbing ladder, you can attempt the NVQ/SVQ Level 2 or 3 courses in plumbing. This can be completed on discussing with the trainer and your employer. Apprehenticeship is one of the routes employed to enter the world of training. Here you are employed and offered training while being paid a wage. Remember whichever route you follow into the world of plumbing, you are sure of getting a job or placement with plumbing. There is a shortage of plumbers everywhere, and this itself has lead to a renewed increase in the number of people joining plumbing courses.
