A wedding is not the easiest thing to plan and when it comes to which drinks to have at your reception, the decision cannot be easy. What you get will depend on the type of guests that you are going to have and the amount of money that you are planning on spending. The most common mistake that people make with drinks is getting too much of it or not enough. Do not make an assumption that the guests will resist the free beer and drink in moderation or have so much beer or wine left over because you did not have as many guests as you anticipated. The kind of bar that you offer at your reception can be open bar where the guests can drink as much as they like or a limited bar where the drinks are served by waiters. A limited bar is the way to go if you do not have so much money to spend for the reception while an open bar requires you to have enough money to buy more than enough drinks. Even though you cannot anticipate everything that will happen during the reception, there are some few pointers that can help you out when you are planning for the wine and beer to serve at your wedding reception. These include: The beer When buying beer, consider who will be drinking it at the reception because some of your guests will not take any other drink. This may include your father, those former high school schoolmates of yours and co-workers. Make larger purchases if the reception is large or if it is going to take part the whole night. The best brands to get for them are Corona, Coors Light, Miller Light and Budweiser. The beer does not have to be imported and the guests will not object if you serve them local beer. White wine This is the type of drink that most of the ladies will go for at the reception. Your mother and her friends will definitely enjoy having some white wine. For an outdoors reception especially if it is in the spring or fall season, get more white wine for your guests to enjoy. Some of the most preferred white wines are Turning Leaf, Penfold’s and Benzinger. Red wine Red wine is good for your father, his friends and for those guests who you may not necessarily know well. If you are serving steak for the dinners make sure that you buy a lot of red wine. The best red wines to get are Beringer’s Pinot Noir and Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon. Even as you get the right wine and beer for your guests, make sure that you do not forget to cater for those who do not drink alcohol like the children. For these people, you can include some fresh fruit juices. The drinks offered should be just for lightening the mood of the guests as they join you in celebrating the occasion and not to get them drunk. Avoid any hard liquor that may make people behave badly.
