Instant Messenger Security Tips

By: Justyn Hornor Home | Business

Using an instant messenger in the workplace can be a very good idea. This is a great way for employees to communicate with one another. To go along with this, some clients may even want to join your instant messaging network. With all of this in mind, many companies still have major concerns. One of them is the security risks of using an instant messenger.

Here are three instant messenger security tips that are sure to ease your stress:

1. Choose an instant messenger that offers the ability to create a secure network. By doing this you will have the chance to invite those that you want to use your network, and keep out anybody else. Not to mention the fact that this helps to promote a safe environment; something that is very important if you are sharing confidential information, etc.

2. Let employees know what they are supposed to be using the instant messenger for. You don’t want anybody to think that this is for social conversations. If you show employees what they are supposed to do it becomes clear that potential security risks are not going to be tolerated.

3. Always know what is going on. You should keep an eye on your instant messenger network including who is using it, what they are doing, and the problems that people are having. This will allow you to catch potential problems before they blossom into issues that are too much for you to handle.

What do you think about these three instant messenger security tips? If you use an instant messenger in a corporate environment you need to keep these tips in mind at all times. You want to take advantage of the benefits of IM, but you never want to jeopardize the safety of you and your clients along the way.
