Interesting Poll Highlights Differences In The Choice Of Wedding Venues

By: admindgs Home | News-and-Society | Marriage

With the increase in licensed venues available for Weddings, a recent poll by weddingchaos.co.uk has highlighted an interesting trend. The poll suggests that more couples are getting married in licensed venues than ever before. Many are forsaking the Register office and reviewing the opportunities that lie in licensed venues.

The poll was originally conducted in 2006 with a spread of possible answers which included Church, Register office, licensed venue or overseas venues. In 2006, 26.2% of respondents answered they were getting married in a licensed venue, where as in 2009 over 30% are taking up that option. Without a doubt the fact that the variety of licensed venues has grown considerably within the last 3 years has had a significant impact as well as people's attitude. It has always been customary to get married in a Church and according to the recent survey, 48% will still be going down the isle of their chosen Church. However, the interesting fact is that it appears that the traditional Register office seems to have lost favour with the pre nuptial couples. There may be several reasons for this, one of which may be the fact that Register office can sometimes seem a sterile environment to be staging a wedding day. Another factor may well be age or whether the marriage is the first or second and subsequent time around.

David Cartlidge, Executive Director, said "We asked the same question three years ago and what we see from the results is the increase in both the number and choice of licensed wedding venues has resulted in a gradual shift of opinion. Whereas previously people may have got married in a register office, abroad or Church, many now seem to be getting married in a licensed venue which offers a wide variety of interesting, picturesque and unusual settings and locations."

Whatever the reasons, licensed venues seem to be attracting more interest than ever before and with the choice of venues increasing, it is a trend which may continue. With an ever increasing demand for interesting photo opportunities, licensed venues provide a viable option to the Register office and with the ability to now get married in some very interesting locations, the choice available to all couples is better than ever.
