Internet Marketing Is Different Than Traditional Marketing

By: deepak kalyan Home | Business

Most people who begin the process of researching work from home opportunities or internet based profit opportunities aren't prepared for the avalanche of information they are about to encounter for the help www.podcasting-made-easy.com. It can be confusing, and overwhelming. One of the first things you should understand before you begin searching for your own work from home opportunities is internet marketing, and all the different things that phrase can mean.

Internet marketing is different than traditional marketing, in the sense that while traditional marketing requires you to target a market within a demographic - meaning you need to identify what you believe the age, sex, and income of your prospective audience will be - internet marketing does not.

Internet marketing instead requires you to have an understanding of the internet and various programs that operate within it.

First, you must understand banner ads. Banner ads are a way of internet marketing that allows the audience most likely to purchase your product to come to you. Placing a small, static ad on the web page of another person, place, or product, that links to your own webpage lets interested people find you.

Banner ads have made the creators of websites like MySpace and Facebook millionaires, despite being "free" to their users for the help www.squeeze-page-profits.com. They have created a website with millions of viewers who choose to sign on and view their pages multiple times a day, and each time they upload their page there are new ads waiting.

Another major aspect of internet marketing is Search Engine Marketing. Search Engine Marketing means that your website will be one of the first to appear when a search is done by a major search engine, like Google or Yahoo.

As anyone who has used the internet knows, when you search something on the internet, whether it be a recipe or a book title, your search engine often comes back with thousands if not millions of results. If your website happens to be one of the first to appear, you're more likely to get desired traffic.

Search Engine Marketing requires more research than you'll find in this article, however. Each search engine has different requirements for how it places and ranks its results, and you'll need to know and understand those requirements if you want to be successful in this area of internet marketing.

Another phrase you'll encounter frequently with internet marketing is "Pay Per Click." Pay per click is another aspect of Search Engine Marketing, although instead of working through natural ways of increasing your page rank, you bid against other websites for the best placement on the first page of results.

When you search Google, you often see a set of results in a beige box at the top of the first page, as well as a series of results off to the right side of the page. These are people who have won the pay per click bidding war.

When starting out, however, be careful of what you are willing to bid for good placement. Often the bids are anywhere between $.05 and $2.00, but as the phrase goes, you must "pay per click." Unless you're aware that the profits you'll make from this particular ad will be worth it, be conservative on your bids.

Finally, you must remember that internet marketing occurs only after you've created a product, or aligned yourself with someone else's product. While you'll see many websites advertising the great life you can have by advertising, know that there is much research and work to be done before the money starts rolling in.
