Internet Phone Review

By: Ken Charnly Home | Arts-and-Entertainment | Humanities

A VoIP telephone is sometimes called Vo VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol and is a way of making a phone call using your computer. Many people pay a large amount of money each year on long distance phone calls and Voiceover Internet Protocol almost eliminates these large amounts that are being charged. The two major reasons to use VOIP are lower cost and increased functionality.

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. All VOIP calls are handled in the traditional fashion excepting they are transmitted via the internet. On private networks, there is rarely a problem using VoIP.

Internet telephony is a category of hardware and software that enables people to use the Internet as the transmission medium for telephone calls.
Some people use VOIP in addition to their traditional phone service. There are smaller countries that have regulations and fees that are hefty for VoIP.

With VoIP, every call you make can be treated as a "local" call. For homes and business considering connecting to broadband, VoIP is a way to offset the monthly connection cost. Many consumers are realizing the benefits of using VOIP services and many more will reap the benefits as soon as emergency services are included in the VOIP service packages.

VOIP and VOIP telephones have opened a whole new realm of possibilities for businesses and individuals across the globe. VoIP is technically free. This is the biggest advantage to most companies. While Skype and Firefly provide a good introduction to Voip they require the user to be at the computer with it turned on. When placing a VoIP call using a phone with an adapter, you'll hear a dial tone and dial just as you always have.
