Irritable bowel syndrome, usually called IBS, is the most common disorder physicians see today, affecting 1 in 5 adults. Symptoms of IBS include abdominal pain, discomfort and bloating, distention, nausea, flatulence and intolerance to certain foods. It can present as diarrhea, constipation, or may alternate between the two. Irritable bowel syndrome can be classified into four groups. These four categories of IBS include diarrhea predominant (IBS- D), constipation, predominant (IBS-C), IBS with alternating stool patterns (IBS-A) and IBS that developed after a serious infection (IBS-PI).

Unfortunately the exact causes for developing this disease remain unknown to the medical world. The contraction that occurs in the intestinal tract of the body of the patient of IBS are seems to be too fast that last longer than normal.
