Is Your Corporate Identity Serving You Well?

By: Sarah Frayzer Home | Business | Branding

The creation of a corporate identity for any business should never be taken lightly. For, it’s this very identity that will be used to define your corporate reputation, brand, products and services, and more to your clients and competition. A strong corporate identity is crucial to your ability to stand out in the crowd of competitors and to remain profitable.

Manage your brand identity

Corporate identity and branding are significant parts of any marketing plan and need to be carefully researched before being implemented, because once you create a company identity you will forever be linked to it.

Your corporate identity should be developed under the premise that it meets an unfilled need or void in the marketplace. With the variety of products and services that are at the disposal of purchasers, it’s important that consumers feel an emotional connection that suggests that their lives can in some way be improved or enhanced by your product or service. Your corporate identity should ultimately make your audience not only want your product or service, but need it.

What should your identity encompass?

In order to thrive in business, you need an identity that:

†Sets you apart from your competition-Competition is fierce for consumer’s attention, money, and loyalty. Your identity will need to signal differentiation that is easy to understand and tangible to your target market.

†Is effectively incorporated in all marketing and advertising initiatives-Your product design and packaging, logo design, ads, and even your website should clearly reflect your corporate identity. It’s very important that every area of your business is streamlined in portraying your brand identity.

†Promotes loyalty both within and without the company- Employee loyalty can make or break a company. High-turnover and poor employee moral will do in any business, no matter how good the product or service they are providing is. It’s vital that your corporate identity promotes unity and harmony within the company and loyalty and uniqueness to clients and customers.

†Continuously reviewed and improved-As times and methodology changes, so too should your corporate identity. While you definitely should not change an identity that is working and providing results, you should build on it and make changes where necessary. Marketing strategies, client/consumer feedback, and the profitability of the business are all areas where you will be able to determine what aspects of your corporate identity should be modified.
