Ixtapa-zihuatanejo Real Estate Offers A Mix Of Tradition, Luxury And Nature

By: Tin Sullivan Home | Finance | Real Estate

The TOPMexicoRealEstate NETWORK, "Your Expert Property-Finders" realizes that many Americans, Canadians, and Europeans looking for property in Mexico like the idea of combining a luxury lifestyle at an affordable price with the rich traditions Mexico's history offers. The duality of the Ixtapa -Zihuatanejo Real Estate area offers the perfect combination of this. Since its creation, the Ixtapa Real Estate area, just 10 kilometers away from Zihuatanejo, offers its beautiful beaches, the open sea and the strong waves; contrast this to the sheltered bay of "Zihua," as the locals call it, where children can play more at ease on a calm beach.

Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Real Estate offers a "two in one" package; the traditional village of Zihuatanejo, which was already a port and a fishing site known in the bay for centuries.
If you are looking for a picturesque village, Zihuatanejo is the place to look. Ixtapa was created in the '70s as a place for hotel development. Ixtapa Condos are in a modern city with hotel chains and all the luxuries that go with them.

Besides this "two in one" both cities also offer a range of oceanfront and sea activities, not to mention nature. In Playa Linda, you can admire crocodiles in their natural habitat, or visit Ixtapa Island, which costs only 35 pesos round trip. The island is small, and lies 400 meters offshore, overlooking the open sea, and is excellent for snorkeling. On the beach there are palapas where you enjoy a delicious fried fish.

Returning from the island, you will pass through the Ixtapa Marina. If you are into yachts, this will be the place for you; even if you are not, it is a perfect place to enjoy anything from a coffee to a romantic dinner at El Galleon - a restaurant with an international menu - or Beccosino, with a specialty in Italian food, or Fisher's, part of a national chain that serves delicacies from the sea.

Just half a kilometer south, in the shopping area of Ixtapa, is Mr. Cokemn, a business that offers "freeze-grilled" ice cream. The idea is simple: you choose the flavors, ranging from the traditional vanilla, strawberry or chocolate and a variety of natural fruits to amaretto, Agavero, Baileys, chamoy, chilli and many more ingredients to personalize your ice cream. They place the ingredients on a 14F grill, and serve it in a cone.

Of course, sea activities are bountiful. Surfing is more and more popular in Ixptapa. If you don't surf, watching can also be fun. Scuba-diving in the coral reef can introduce to you an incredible world of flora and fauna. There are also places with dolphin shows, of you can even swim with the dolphins in certain special locations.

Just a short drive away from Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo Real Estate area you can find more nature and quaint village areas. For example, you can visit Potosi Refuge, a private reserve with a lot of flora and fauna. It was established in 2008 on seven hectares of land, where coatis and iguanas roam freely. There are also parrots. Near the reception there is also an display of scorpions and snakes, which, of course, do not roam freely! There are also areas where you can see and learn information of various plants from the region. A butterfly garden is included with an observation tower where you can admire the entire region, from the beaches of Barra de Potosi, to the airport, to Petatln and all the way to the mountains! Admission to the reserve is only about $3.50 dollars per adult and about $2 for children.

Only five minutes away is Refuge is Barra de Potosi, a beach that doesn't offer the luxury atmosphere of Ixtapa, but has a provincial flavor more reminiscent of a traditional village. In the rainy season, the lagoon that lies to one side grows and meets the sea, so you can paddle a kayak. On the beach, several palapas prepare food. An appetizer of "fish strips" is a favorite. "Tossed fish" is a main dish to try, typical of the Mexican Pacific coast. Need something to settle a big meal? There are nearly 10 miles of beach for walking.
