Jock Itch Treatment

Jock itch is a fungal infection. It is named because it affects many male athletes. But anybody can get Jock itch that causes infection in the genital, anal and upper leg areas of the body.

jock itch are rarely confused, but genital herpes in its early stages may be mistaken for jock itch since both conditions have similar symptoms. They are both uncomfortable, produce red, irritated skin and appear in the thighs, groin or genital area. However, they are usually quite easy to differentiate.

Causes of jock itch

Unhygienic practices, such as not changing underwear daily and sharing of towels and other intimate apparel, are the primary causes of jock itch. You could also catch jock itch if you come in contact with persons who are suffering from the skin disease or you use and share towels, bed, blankets, shorts and pants with someone who has jock itch.

If you feel that your partner is already displaying symptoms of jock itch, it would be wise to change towels and bed sheets immediately so that you will not catch the disease too.

Symptoms of Jock itch:

1-A circular, red, raised rash with elevated edges.

2-Itching and redness in your groin, including your genitals, inner thighs, buttocks and anal area.

3-Flaking, peeling or cracking skin in your groin.

4-Abnormally dark or light skin.

5-You may have other fungal skin rashes such as athlete's foot or ringworm on other body parts.

A common infection mainly of the adult men, Jock itch is a very painful and uncomfortable phenomenon found in the hot countries. Caused by an excessive growth of the fungi Dermatophytes residing in the skin, Jock itch usually occurs when these fungi proliferate in the skin due to moisture.

The area of the groin is a perfect environment for the growth of jock itch. It's warm and moist. The summer months are especially tough since you sweat much easier in hot weather. Wearing very tight fitting clothing can also bring bring it on, as well as those who are obese or suffer from diabetes mellitus.

Jock itch is a common fungal infection that appears on the upper thighs, buttocks and genitals. It is characterized by a ring shaped, itchy, red, rash. It is mildly contagious and can be passed by direct contact or by sharing bath towels.

While jock itch is an infection that is often associated with men, it can also affect women. It is a very uncomfortable skin infection that appears as very itchy rashes in the groin area. In women, it can appear in the inner thighs, genitals, buttocks and even in the anal area. Its medical term is tinea cruris.

Prevention

1-Use cornstarch, powders to prevent friction and heat build up.

2-Was with natural anti fungal soaps like Defense Soap.

3-Wear loose-fitting cotton underwear.

Most men especially the athletes have this. But in some cases, almost anyone who sweats a lot could easily get it. The question is, Is there a remedy for jock itch? Yes, certainly. There are home remedy cure for jock itch, maybe you'll need to take some time and check up on your medicine cabinets.

Another remedy that has been around for many years is using corn starch. Simply applying corn starch to the area has proven to be effective in curing the itch long before these other products came out.

Every day, take a look between your toes for any signs of athlete's foot, which would be visible red scaly skin. Be sure to treat this infection as soon as possible so that you can prevent it from spreading to other areas of your body.

Prevention

You can help stop jock itch by keeping the area clean & Free of moisture. Take time to dry your private area & inner legs after showering, bathing or going for a swim. Make sure your workout clothes or sports outfits fit you correctly & don't irritate the skin in the private's area. If you wear a cup, be sure to wash it regularly.
