Jump Higher

By: Madeleine Boulliant Home | Health-and-Fitness | Nutrition

Training regularly is the only way to go if you want to take your jump to another level,  There are various jump trainings which you can apply to get that vertical you’d wanted, but then again, you might be concerned about your safety during these trainings. Here are some safety tips which can help you train better.1) Remember to Warm Up  - This is VERY important.  In fact, warming up is so crucial that if you fail, you risk injuring yourself and affect your total jump performance.  There are many who skip their warming up sessions just because they do not realise how important it is towards their training and achieving their ideal vertical jump.   This session is not a waste of time and you are probably not as serious in your training if you skip a proper warm up.   Stretching is part of warming up and it prepares your body into the training session.  You must remember to warm up your whole body thoroughly to get the maximum result.2) Choose a Suitable Surface for Training - This is also an important safety point.  If you are incorporating plyometrics in your training, you will know how impactful the exercises are.  Therefore, if you train on an unsuitable surface, you will risk injuring yourself.  A point to remember is to never train on a wet surface, no matter how well you think your grip or balancing skills are.  Surfaces which are safe for training are an athletic track or on dry grass  3) Proper Landing after a Jump - After a jump, naturally, you would land on the balls of your feet.  This action is to provide and maintain your body balance.  If you miss the ball-landing, you will lose balance and land flat on your feet.  You should be cautious at all times and try not to twist your ankles when landing.
4) The Importance of Foot Placement - Sometimes when athletes train with wrong foot placements, they sustain serious injuries, which in the end, stopped them from continuing their training for months.  You have to remember during your training that your feet are placed firmly on the ground at the start of any movement.  You feet should also land firmly after your jump.  If you can not practice to land correctly after a jump, you are not training correctly.  Without the correct foot placement, you risk yourself to an injured leg or back.  Incorrect foot placement also means that you are training your muscles to respond at the wrong angle, thus unable to create that explosive jump you wanted.  The safety tips mentioned above are only some of the more important ones that will help you get the most out of your jump manual.  Always keep in mind that if you train safely, not only will you not sustain from future injuries but you will perform in greater heights because your muscles are working in the correct ways as they should be.
