If not her, then your boss or worse still your competitor could be. Where exactly do you think these documents and files, emails, and your browsing history go when you think you deleted them? They're actually completely deleted, a backup, or footprint, is saved. These tiny footprints use valuable hard drive space, slow down your computer, and slow down your boot up time too! That's not as bad as it could be.

Normal searching means, you would never find that footprint, but there are hundreds of programs available designed to find and retrieve the original information. Your spouse could find a flirty email written a long time ago that you thought you safely removed. Legal action could result if these files are in incriminating or provide proof of financial matters for example. Many people have ended up in court as a result of files or emails they thought they deleted months earlier. They stay on your computer you see!
