Kershaw Knives is a multinational corporation owned and operated by Japanese KAI Group that designs and manufactures a range of kitchen cutlery, pocket knives, outdoor knives and combat knives. In 1974 knife salesman, Peter Kershaw decided to form his own knife company based upon his own designs, desires and experience. Early manufacturing of Kershaw Knives was done in Japan until 1998 when Kershaw Knives became wholly subsidized by Japan KAI group. In 1998 due to such exponential growth a new production facility was opened in Wilsonville, OR and and then moved to a larger production facility due to continued expansion. Kershaw Knives offers a three lines of different knife collections including the original Kershaw Knives, Shun Cutlery, which sells kitchen cutlery and Zero Tolerance. The original Kershaw Knives are a collaborated effort between custom knife makers Grant and Gavin Hawk, Frank Centofante and Ken Onion. Kershaw Knives best known designer, Ken Onion also created and designed the SpeedSafe opening knife capability. Some of the original Kershaw Knives include the Kershaw Leek Collections, the Kershaw Blur and the Kershaw Scallot Collection. The Kershaw Leeks Collections includes some of the most popular Kershaw Knives that include Ken Onion's distinctive and innovative designs as well as the Speed Safe , ambidextrous assisted opening system. The Kershaw Leek collection comes in a variety of colors ranging from stainless steel to pink to blue and even rainbow. One of the knives included in the collection that offers originality of design and coloring is the Kershaw Rainbow Leek. The Kershaw Rainbow Leek includes a titanium-oxide rainbow coating, a thumb stud and a reversible/removable pocket clip. The Kershaw Rainbow Leek also includes the SpeedSafe opening system that allows you smoothly and easily deploy the blade with either your right or left hand. The Kershaw Blur Collections includes a unique handle that features advanced materials to ensure a safe, secure grip every time you use your knife. The Kershaw 1840CKT - Shallot Black offers a longer 4 3/8" handle made of 410 steel and a 3 1/2" blade. The Kershaw 1840CKT is built with a the SpeedSafe assisted technology and includes Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel known for its high quality and even greater durability. The Kershaw 1840ST - Shallot Serr also includes offers a longer 4 3/8" handle made of 410 steel and a 3 1/2" blade with the SpeedSafe Assisted Opening, the reversible/removable pocket clip and a frame lock.
