Kitty Cats In Our Household

By: Paulina Jenkins Home | Home-and-Family | Pets

Kitty cats have been over the centuries developed strong bonds with humans. These creatures are found to form the most affectionate attachment to their owners. They are capable of great love and loss when their beloved humans died.

If you decide to adopt a cat there are some basic supplies for kitty cats that you must have. These are food, food bowl, water bowl, toys, and brushes, combs, scratching post, trimmer and kitty litter box. A balanced diet for cats must include proteins, vitamins, fats and carbohydrates. No cat should be fed dry food only especially males.

Today toys for kitty cats are getting very sophisticated and interactive such as action toys, mouse, balls, and catnip mitten. The toys that cats love best are those that you can make at home as long as they can be made to look live and move. Naked elastic toys are considered unsafe and could hurt your kitty cats.

Purchasing a scratching post would be in the best interest of both you and your kitty. This is because cats need to sharpen their claws often, and if you do not want your furniture to be shredded, a scratching post is a necessity. Trimming your cats claws is also a necessity, however if you are not comfortable about doing it, you should take your cat to the vet, he or she will be more than happy to do it.

There are a number of different brushes available to cat owners. It is important that you groom your cat often to avoid hairballs and it also allows you to check for ticks and fleas. Brushing them also assists in keeping the fur clean and shiny, and is very good at removing dead skin from the cats fur, reducing the chances of allergies.

When grooming kitty cats with thick and long hairs such as the Persians, brushing has to be carried out on a daily basis. Otherwise, the coat will get into knots and tangle and you have to send your pet to be professionally groomed. Brushing also can pick up any flea or tick on the hairs. Grooming session is good for bonding with your kitty cat.

For cats with short hairs, if the coat is the thick type, hard brushes are the ideal ones to use. On those cats with short and sleek coats, the soft brushes are more suitable. You can use the slicker brushes on both the longhaired and shorthaired cats. Wire or pin brushes are best used on kitty cats with long hairs to prevent matting and tangle. Hard bristled brushes are mostly used on shorthaired cats.

We may live in a modern society but we still need our beloved kitty cats. They are capable of bring so much joy and love into our lives. Studies have found that they have a most comforting and calming effect on the elderly and sick. I always believe that God in His infinite wisdom has given us this wonderful creature to be our life long companions.
