Know About Pigmentation

By: genelia mark Home | Health-and-Fitness

Pigmentation refers to the unexplained darkening (hyperpigmentation) or lightening (hypopigmentation) of the skin. Causes can usually be pinpointed to UVR exposure, trauma, medication, a chemical substance, or hormonal and Vitamin A & C deficiencies.

So what factors cause skin pigmentation disorder in the first place? Many factors have been declared as culprit for causing skin pigmentation problem. Sometimes it is due to allergic reaction of some kind of medication and at other times it is due to hormonal imbalance or change in the body.

There are many different types of pigmentation and treatment depends on whether it is a passive or inflammatory type of pigmentation.

Some forms of passive pigmentation include Chloasma and Melasma, associated with a hormonal trigger and subsequent cascade of Melanin Stimulating Hormone.

If you are a dark skinned women in the age group of 20-40 do not despair. It is a very common skin disorder. It appears on the forehead, cheeks and upper lip in dark patches. Sometimes it appears on the forearms and necks. Even though men do get this skin condition their percentage is very low compared to that of women.

Vitiligo is probably the commonest cause of depigmentation and generates a lot of concern due to the fact that it causes not only depigmentation but also makes the skin color very uneven and patchy , and hence unsightly. Other common conditions resulting in depigmentation include, Albinism, Tenia Versicolor, nevus depigmentosus and guttate hypomelanosis.

Hormonal Changes or Imbalance: During pregnancy there are a lot of hormonal changes in the body of the pregnant lady. This causes facial pigmentation which subsequently gets cleared without any treatment after child birth. But even if you are not pregnant you are susceptible to melasma due to hormonal changes.

How to get rid of pigmentation:

Hydroquinone Cream
Home Recipe - A mixture of heavy cream and lemon juice is another example of how to get rid of pigmentation.
Eat Radishes
Orange Peels
Arbutin Creams - Arbutin may be the most effective natural pigment reducing ingredient.

The reason that many women have trouble with their facial pigmentation is that they think the problem can be solved using fancy creams or lotions. But the reality is that the solution to age spots, sun spots, and face spots lies in patented, state of the art pigmentation treatment!

Avoid Petroleum-based Alcohols: Petroleum-based alcohols are known to cause brown spots on the skin, although the reason for this is as yet, unclear. Alcohols typically sting, which could trick the melanocytes into thinking that a sun burn has occurred.

The other ingredient that you can not miss is Grape seed oil. Grape seed oil is rich in Vitamin E and linoleic acid and several other essential oils which are necessary for skin health. Many scientific studies have shown it is effective for skin repairing and freckles removing on face.

Good thing there are natural ingredients that fight the ugly effects of hyper-pigmentation. Definitely organic beauty products do the best. By choosing these right ingredients, you do not only erase the unattractive hyper-pigmentation but you also improve some other areas of you skin.
