When cooking for our loved ones, it is important to provide all the best nutrition from the safest produce and price we can afford. However, it seemed that there are dangers in the chemical additives that are included in today's packed food ingredients. Checking out some healthy recipe videos can help you know what food additives to avoid. For parents, it is necessary to take note that additives are mostly found in packed and preserved food. Thus food ingredients that are pre-packaged and preserved most likely contain harmful chemicals. Some ready-to-cook meals are also positive on chemical food additives that are not at all safe for our family. Nutritious recipe videos and cookbooks have a list of food additives to stay away from, which includes monosodium glutamate or MSG, sodium nitrate, aspartame, and carmine, to name a few common additives. MSG or monosodium glutamate is a type of food additive that was developed at enhancing flavors in Chinese food ingredients. But today, MSG is present in almost every snack foods like packed potato chips, sauces, or stocks. MSG is a type of excitotoxin, which is designed to stimulate the taste buds to enhance the food's flavor. Unfortunately, MSG has been reported to cause damage in the nerve due to overexciting the nerves in the body. This is why recipe videos that promote nutrition will not include MSG in their cooking. Moreover, sodium nitrite is also one of the harmful food ingredients to avoid. This additive is mostly used in packed meat products or in deli counters to add up to red color of meats for a fresher and appetizing appeal. Sodium nitrite is in fact a cancer-causing substance or carcinogen that can seriously damage the body causing brain tumors, leukemia, and other severe diseases. Unfortunately though, this is included in most foods without any warning labels. Aspartame is also one food additive that is extensively used in soft drinks and deserts. It has even been reported that large consumption of aspartame occurs in children obtained by drinking sugar-free drinks, yogurts, and snacks. Cochineal, also known as carmine, is one of the dangerous food ingredients that are quite misleading. Carmine is a red coloring additive that is found in a number of food products to give a pretty pinkish color. Some of the products with carmine contents include strawberry yogurt, artificial grapefruit juice, and many more. In fact, carmine is made from dead husks of red beetles that add twist to foods. This can be tricky as some food manufacturers fail to list in their food labels. Some of these common food additives are negligently included in foods that children love to eat. Unlike healthy recipe videos provided for moms, buying instant and preserved food can potentially harm your children. Using food additives is just a convenient way for some manufacturers to compromise the nutrients found in healthy foods to increase their sales. For parents who want to provide their kids good nutrition, it is important to give them home-cooked meals as much as possible.
