Landscaping Design Software

By: Ernest T. Peterson Home | Communications | Broadband-Internet

It is absolutely unbelievable how much our society loves technology. Don't get me wrong in many ways I am a big fan of

technology myself, and that is a fact. I blog, I check my e-mail three or four times a day, I have Internet friends who I

have never met in person. But I also understand that there are some things that are better done hands on. I have been a

landscaper for years, and have always gotten by with pen, paper, and an intimate sense of design. Nowadays however, there is

landscape design software that is supposed to make landscaping easier. This is just ridiculous. Landscaping design software

is one of the most idiotic and ridiculous things that I have ever heard of.

First of all, there's no need for it at all. The fact is that landscaping is a pretty hands on a fair. The actual

landscaping design is straightforward. You don't need landscaping design software, you just need a good eye and a pen and

paper. After all, when you are laying out a garden, a yard, or a commercial lot, you need to be there in person.

Landscaping design software does not allow you to get your hands dirty while you're doing the actual design work. People act

as if 3-D modeling is necessary, but it is not. If you can't picture the way the landscape will look when you are done

without landscaping design software, you are obviously doing a job that is

above your abilities. No one who needs landscaping design programs to imagine such simple things as changes in elevation, or

the use of a retaining wall, just simply does not have the eyes it is necessary to do even the most rudimentary landscape

work.

The fact is that even the most sophisticated landscaping design software is no way to get around a lack of experience.

Before you go out and buy the hundred dollar landscape design software you should think about whether or not the job that

you're trying to do is too hard for you. It is no good diving into something as a beginner that only should be done by

experts. Landscaping design software is no solution, because it does not help you with a hands-on work that is involved.

People think that landscaping is easy because people assume that manual laborers are not very bright. Neither of these ideas

are true!
