First remove any rough edges around the damaged part. If the damage is a burn, the entire burn out of the leather jacket needed to be cut. Then look for a leather patch in the same leather jacket color and the same color grain as the jacket. Cut the patch in the same design of the tear area so that it fits exactly. Next, lay the patch onto a piece of linen that best matches the color of the leather jacket and cut the linen out an inch bigger than the leather patch. At last, use a good quality clear adhesive to paste the leather patch into the cut out area of the jacket. Then, fix the linen patch over the leather patch.
