One might say that LeBron James is overoptimistic. Yes, that could be it. Exactly a year ago, the talented LeBron James coming off as a free agent from the Cleveland Cavaliers had made his one-hour special nationally televised announcement: he was taking his talents to South Florida. There he would join Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh and suddenly the Miami Heat was the hottest team in the league. It’s odds to win the NBA Championship skyrocketed and without missing a blink LeBron James became one of the most hated players in professional sports. Suddenly, leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers seemed like an act of selfishness and betrayal. And yet, we all knew it was the right move. There were little chances for LeBron James to win a title in Cleveland. He didn’t really have the supporting cast that it was needed to dominate the postseason, and quite frankly, in the larger stage, LeBron James always seemed to fade out right when his team needed him most. So what then? Well, get together with two other hot players and fight off for the title. It almost worked out. They took the playoffs series against the Boston Celtics in the conference finals, and suddenly, all they had left before them was a team that hand been known for its general underachievement. Little did we know that the team who had fought its way into the Western Conference and had swept off the defending champions would prevail. At the end, it was Dirk Nowitzki and Company who hold off LeBron James and the heat to claim a title for the Dallas Mavericks. It seems that this has been LeBron James motivation throught the summer. Deep inside, even if he doesn’t says it publicly, he knows very well that been the runner up of the NBA Championship was a personal defeat. He knows quite well that he failed as a pro athlete. So he has been training every day since the end of the short summer break. He's been in Houston at times this offseason to learn post play from one of the game's all-time greats, former Rockets star Hakeem Olajuwon. Truth is, LeBron James is trying to live up to his promise: he’ll do all he can to comeback this next season as a better player. He might be a better player. There might just not be a season for him to prove his new set of skills. LeBron James stays hopeful. He really believes that there will be an NBA season. He has said he understands why other players are taking a go at other markets considering the NBA lockout could eventually lead up to not playing this season. And yet, despite the signs of major trouble afoot in the NBA, Lebron James still believes he’ll be able to fight for this championship one more time. It’s a great hope, but we can’t forget that the trouble is there. let’s remember that NBA Players union chief, Billy Hunter, told a conference of attorneys in Baltimore last week that he would bet against there being a 2011-12 season "at this moment. It’s not the brightest scene, I must say, but heck, maybe David Stern, the team owners and the players union will come around: for the sake of the sport.
