Emergency vehicle lighting is a very important part of a rescue operation. Emergency vehicles such as police cars, ambulances, fire fighting trucks etc need to be well equip with emergency lighting in case of an emergency. These emergency lights are usually used to communicate to the public that there is an emergency that the respected personnel have to reach at. These are very necessary with the ever increasing traffic. There is a general color code which these vehicles use. Red is the common color used in cases of emergencies but this is confined only to the police lights or the fire fighting vehicles. Blue is always used only for the law enforcement vehicles and yellow is reserved for the non emergency vehicles like tow trucks or vehicles used in construction. LED light the acronym for light emitting diodes are just tiny diodes that emit light. These diodes are connected by a circuit and produce a steady electron flow to produce light.

LED lights are used increasingly for emergency vehicle lighting because these conduct well and are heat sensitive. They do not have any problems such as burning out of the filament. They are extremely powerful and are very reliable. They area also very low profile and come in thin light bars that are used as police lights and domes as used on the other emergency vehicles. They can be used even in very rough conditions as they are resistant to any sort of vibrations. When used on emergency vehicles the prime advantage these lights have over the other lights is that they consume much less battery. After all the battery levels of these vehicles do count a lot. These LED lights can be used for over six to eight hours once they are fully charged. The best part they are very cost effective.

There are different types of LED lights available in various colors. The most famous being the red and blue light bar used as the police light. These light bars can also be used on other emergency vehicles like tow trucks, electricity department trucks. When used as police lights, these are mounted either at the side usually used by undercover police officials or at the dashboard. These lights placed at the dashboard are usually invisible unless they are turned on. These are a bit expensive as compared to the normal lights but they are even more efficient. The beacon lights are enclosed in a cylindrical shaped covering. These types of LED’s are used by fire departments and also by many construction companies. These lights are become old fashioned and are now replaced by the light bars.

Other than the emergency vehicles these lights can be used for your various household purposes like during a blackout or as a part of your traveling kit. You may never know when you yourself might land up in a emergency situation and can use these LED’s as your emergency lighting.
