Liver Cleansing Diet

Every day, we are exposed to a myriad of pollutants including heavy metals, pesticides, drug residues and hormones. Even though the liver is an effective filtration system, the amount of pollutants we encounter on a day to day basis may put an extra burden on the liver. A liver cleanse diet is especially beneficial for naturally cleansing excessive toxins, helping the liver to work in its optimal state.

Why is it so important to take care of our liver? A poorly functioning liver detrimentally affects how the rest of your body is able to function. Your skin will look awful, you will feel constantly tired, your immune system will weaken to the point where you are sick constantly. As your liver function drops, the level of toxins in your body increases as your liver fights to try and purge them.

Lymph is the interstitial fluid found between cells of the human body. It enters the lymph vessels by filtering through pores in the walls of capillaries, then travels to at least one lymph node before emptying into the right or the left subclavian vein, where it mixes back with blood.

A light fasting is usually carried out before starting the liver cleansing diet. It helps in flushing out the excess toxins from body. You are normally required to drink a lot of water, fruit and vegetable juices and eat them fresh and raw. After doing it for a few days, you will notice a marked increase in your eating habits. But, now you have to be careful about eating the right food and avoiding wrong foods.

Nutrition plays a major role for enhancing your liver. Usually due to erratic lifestyle, excess intake of junk foods and stress causes a liver dysfunction. You should be extremely careful in choosing the best diet for cleansing your body.You should drink lots of water for cleaning this organ. Drinking water hydrates your body and keeps your internal system clean.

A liver cleansing diet requires you to eat a balanced diet of wholegrains, fresh fruit and vegetables and unprocessed foods. Do not eat foods that are overly processed which can include preservatives, additives and other chemicals which can effect your immune system and removal of toxins. Drink plenty of filtered water to help flush out toxins and make sure you get regular cardio exercise which will also help in removing toxins. By going on a liver cleansing diet your liver will function a lot better and your immune system will improve.

For the first few days of the diet, it is recommended that you avoid red meats, sweet food, bread rich recipes, salt and fried foods. Foods that contain additives and preservatives or foods that are high in artificial or natural sugar are high in toxins and place an unnecessary strain on the liver.

If you allow yourself to feel hungry you will be much more likely to give up on your diet and pig out on something that you should not be eating. Make sure that you have some cut up fruits or vegetables on hand should you feel yourself getting hungry.
