When choosing to remodel a space that has a sink or choosing to simply replace a sink you might find yourself pondering whether to choose a sink based on look or function. The fact is that you can have both. A good illustration of this is in the examination of two different models of sinks. Take an apron sink and a glass sink.

An apron sink provides a function that is difficult to surpass. From the beginning these sinks were crafted with a function in mind. Take the material. The result is a non-rusting strong sink that you can work in and not worry about damaging or leaving the sink unattractive. Two of the common styles are a single large basin and a two basin design. The two basin design typically has one larger and one smaller compartment. These are functional designs to allow you to maintain separate waters or mixtures or to accommodate very large objects in your sink. You'll also find the namesake apron around the front. High-quality versions of an apron sink will have design elements like padding and undercoating to reduce the noise and satin finishing to reduce the damage of scratching.

A glass sink, or glass vessel sink, is designed with look in mind. These singular pieces are nearly always handmade resulting in one of a kind works that can be the center of a room or compliment the dcor of nearly any space. The glass used is often attractively colored and mixed to create pleasing combinations. You can also find examples with color captured in the glass. These glasses are created and chosen with the intention of creating a beautiful glass vessel sink. You will also find some glass sinks with designs and patterns in the glass. A few examples are tile patterns in multiple colors and geometric designs, both in the glass. You'll find that a glass sink often comes with a faucet set crafted using the same glass mixture that the vessel is made of. These are all aesthetic qualities. A high-quality glass vessel sink though will be made of a strong glass. Much of the glass used in high-quality any glass sink is tempered. This provides an especially strong material that will maintain the beauty of the glass vessel sink.

You'll notice that there is a common element in both the high-quality glass sink and apron sink models. That common element is the presence of a combination of look and function. Ensuring that both of these qualities is in the sink means making your choice for look and function an easy one; one you don't have to make.
