Lower Your Breast Cancer Risk

By: Alex White Home | Cancer | Breast-Cancer

Most of the time, we worry about curing a disease after it has been diagnosed rather than having taken active steps to prevent it. It’s not too hard on your health if this approach is taken on minor illnesses, but if you are afflicted by life threatening diseases like cancer, the treatment itself takes such a toll on your health as much as the disease itself.

It makes much sense to take positive steps towards prevention of diseases rather than just cure them. Especially with breast cancer, most women start thinking about the disease only after they have developed it. Once you develop it, the treatment process is painful and long drawn out, not to mention the severe emotional impact. The good news though, is that it is possible to lower the risk of breast cancer by following a healthy lifestyle.

The benefits of exercise have been talked about time and again and not without reason. Exercise remains the best method to prevent almost all diseases. A healthy body is highly resistant to any illness that attempts to take over. Consistent physical activity, even if it is moderate, significantly reduces the risk of breast cancer in a woman.

Nicotine has never has been good for the human body and never will be. Quit smoking. That is the kindest thing that you can do for your body. Cutting down on sugar, processed food and starchy carbohydrates is also found to have positive effects on reduction in breast cancer risk.

Increasing fruits and vegetable intake, especially brightly colored produce has significant health benefits. 8 glasses of water and 8 hours of sleep keep many problems at bay, it also reduces cancer risk. Stress, if unavoidable, must be tackled through healthy means. Your health will also benefit from vitamin supplements.

These are not earth-shattering discoveries, the benefits of almost all of the tips mentioned above have been discussed over and over again by healthcare professionals, fitness experts and scientists. It is just a reminder that a preemptive strike through exercise and cancer against the ongoing battle of humanity vs. cancer is well within our reach.
