Lumps In Breast

By: alice rose Home | Health-and-Fitness

Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. It is the leading cause of death among women between 40 and 55 years of age,the second overall cause of death among women (exceeded only by lung cancer). and is on the rise worldwide. Breast tenderness is normal and common when young women are going through puberty. Often they ache, causing discomfort. Embarrassment can be felt by what is thought as the "overnight" growth of your breasts. Six of every one hundred women will develop breast cancer at some time in their lives, the vast majority over age forty.

Diagnosis - if the cancer is at an early stage, the diagnosis would be "invasive breast cancer". The size of the lump with breast cancer and where found will be stated in the report. It will also indicate in the report if the breast cancer has hormone (progesterone and estrogen) and HER2 receptors. This type of cancer screening that is most popular among women is the one being done by physicians during routine check ups. In this process, the doctor will feel the breasts if there are lumps. Aside from this manual checkup, the doctor can issue a request in order to do several radiological or ultrasonic screening in laboratories.

Aside from just the breasts itself, the nipples should also be checked. One of the common signs on the nipples is its inversion. Once you noticed that there is this change on your nipples, you should start consulting your physician immediately. Aside from this you should also take note of nipple discharge. So as soon as you find that lump you should be calling and setting up an appointment. You may experience some nipple retraction too. This is when you will need to also call and set up an appointment to see the doctor. You may also experience some swelling under the arm in the armpit area for an early symptom.

Symptoms that you need to check for and may suggest that something is not right are lumps or thickening of the tissue, pain is also another factor that can denote a problem. A common change is discharge from the nipple any unusual appearance or sensation to tethering of the skin. Breast cancer may also be caused by injuries. If the breast of some woman has been injured by trauma then there will be a rupture of tiny blood vessels which causes an area of localized bleeding and it can be felt as a lump. The injury results into the formation of lump in the breast. But these lumps are not cancerous.
