Usually it is seen that magnetic flow meters are used for water applications because of the conductivity properties of the water. These mag flow meter have several beneficial features like, reliable and accurate measurement, reliably can detect empty pipe, and the most important thing is low maintenance cost for calibration. This mag meter is based on the principle of Faraday’s Law, and according to which when a conductor is passing through the magnetic field it make a voltage which is directly proportional to the conductor’s velocity. In this magnetic flow meter two coils are there, one place at the top and one at the bottom of the flow tube which are compelled by the transmitter for the generation of pulsed magnetic field o coherent strength. Along with the time the capability of these meters can drift because of many factors like temperature, electrode coating, and vibration. Construction of mag flow meter A conducting fluid whose flow rate is to be measured flows through a non-magnetic and non-conducting pipe. In this flow meter two electrodes are fixed in the opposite side of the pipe which carries the conducting fluid. And these electrodes are usually in connection with the conducting fluid. And electromagnet is surrounding this pipe producing a magnetic field. Applications â€They measures the flow rate of conducting fluids †Measures the flow rates of abrasive, slurry and corrosive fluid. â€They also measure the bidirectional flow with the help of reversing connections and they can be done even automatically. Advantages â€Flowing hindrance is not caused by this mg flow meter thus not causing any any pressure drop. â€For this flow meter measuring the flow can be done in every manner like whether it is laminar or turbulent. â€Accuracy is the most important feature of it. â€It is highly reliable due to its standard performance for prolonged time duration. â€It has the ability to measure even greasy fluid containing solids â€Viscosity, temperature, density, and pressure do not have any effect on its measurement of flow. Limitation â€For measuring any fluid it must satisfy the certain conduction condition, as to get accuracy. â€Pipe should be completely filled for accurate result. â€There shouldn’t be any air or gas bubbles in the fluid as it may cause errors. â€If there is low output voltage it will require amplification. Thus these are some of the advantage and limitations of mag flow meter. While going for it these things should be considered for the betterment of industry.
