I used to have a theory about leaving things in the trunk of my car. My theory was that the more things I left in the trunk of my car, the heavier my car would become, thus forcing me to have to fill up more frequently when it came to gassing up. As it turns out, this is partly true! As it turns out, studies have been conducted in that prove that the more things you leave in your car, the heavier it becomes; and if you think about it, it only makes sense. The heavier your vehicle is, the harder it has to work in order to propel itself forward, thus using more gasoline. Makes sense, doesn't it? For instance, when I would drive my Jeep, the trunk area was open so that anyone passing by could look into my vehicle and see what was being stored in the trunk area. The same is true of cars that are hatchbacks. When you own a vehicle and your trunk space is exposed, you should try to make sure that whatever you are carrying in your vehicle is concealed somehow. One cost-efficient way to ensure that this is the case is to simply take an old blanket and drape it across the items that are being stored in your trunk. If you drive a hatchback or a sport utility vehicle, then you may have an option that comes with your car where the trunk area is automatically covered. One of the common mistakes that people make when they are heading to a park to go for a run or walk is that they wait until they get to the park, and then from there they decide to wait until they have parked their car before they take their purse, wallet or other valuables and store them in their trunk or elsewhere in their car. This is a huge mistake because you never know who is at the park watching you. Too often, people will go through the motions of hiding their personal belongings from criminals only to come back to their vehicle an hour later to discover that their car has been broken into and their valuables are gone. Prior to leaving for the gym or the park or anywhere else where you are planning on leaving something of value in your car when you exit; instead, make sure that you store your things prior to leaving your home. The best option, however, is to leave whatever is of value behind in your home (I.e. jewelry). The trunk of your vehicle should be used to store items that you wish to keep out of sight or items that you may need in the event of an emergency. Items that are stored in the trunk of your car should be kept as organized as possible, thereby making it easy to find things when you are in a rush.
