Martini Glasses

By: Renee Goldman Home | Food-and-Drink

Everyone knows the classic design of martini glasses that seem to put you in the party mood. They have the unmistakable cone-shaped bowl with a tall stem. The sophisticated shape of the martini glass makes it one of the most unique and elegant types of glassware in the world. Since the glass has a tall stem, the drinker can hold it by the stem and the cool drink is not affected by the drinkers warm hand. Beverages retain their low temperature longer and the properties of the drink are not affected.

The martini can claim its fame from the well-known image of the green olive that's served in it. But there are a wide variety of designs of martini glasses available. Expand your glassware collection with interesting shapes and colors. The double martini glass is for those who desire a larger cocktail. Their bowls are larger and their stems are taller than the regular sized glass. There are also stemless martini glasses. These have an identical shape as the traditional style but they are missing a stem. The base of the glass is attached directly to the bowl.

These tantalizing glasses can be used in many different ways. People have been known to serve fruity cocktails, fizzy champagne and even sorbet in this wonderful glassware. Sometimes they are used at social events to serve side dishes as well. This unexpected move always causes excitement. Martini glasses are also used in situations that don't involve food or drink. Creative docorators also find a way to include them in their colorful settings to support candles and set in unexpected places like a window. Plastic martini glasses are often used for decorative purposes.

This beautiful glassware is perfect for holding coloring candies and sweets. They can also be used to hold small flowers such as violets. Try filling them with sand from your recent trip to the beach or delicate seashells. The possiblities are endless when considering martini glasses.
