Massage Insurance For The Unexpected

By: webmaster massageliability Home | Health-and-Fitness | Beauty

For most folks, trying to figure out what will happen in the future usually comes down to what has happened in the past. In fact, the past often is one of the best insights into the future. However, this is not always the case. There really are no guarantees when it comes to the future, and the chance of an unexpected outcome rises as you add more and more external variables.

Liability insurance exists for this very reasonâ€"to provide protection in case the unexpected occurs, and you need the financial support to survive it. For massage therapists and bodyworkers, it can be difficult to digest the fact that massage insurance is necessary, but when you look at the external variables involved in the field of touch therapy, it is simple to see why coverage is crucial.

These external variables are your clients. Any time a person is doing business with members of the public, the odds of unexpected outcomes rise. This is because those members of the public represent external variables, and what they do and feel is basically beyond your control as a massage therapist or bodyworker. The most you can do is keep your own side of the street clean, by providing the best possible hands on session and being diligent about all other aspects of your practice.

This means you must be well educated and capable in the massage therapy or bodywork modality you practice, and you must be careful to stay within your designated scope of practice during all sessions. It also means you should be meticulous with your intake forms and interviews when you take on a new client. You will need to know about any prior injuries or conditions, allergies and other such pertinent information.

Being diligent about your practice comes down to safety and sanitation as well. Make sure you keep all walk ways free from obstacles that could cause a client to slip, trip or fall, such as loose rugs or spilled massage oils. This attention to safety should extend beyond the walls of your practice as well, if you consider any of the grounds around the building to be your property, such as a parking lot and sidewalk or steps.

Keeping your side of the street clean by paying attention to important details, such as those described above, is one of the best ways to ensure your desired outcomes. However, even when you do all of the above, there is still the chance that one of those external variablesâ€"one of your clientsâ€"could surprise you with a claim of damage or injury.

Even if you in no way contributed to the damage or injury your client claims, you will still need massage insurance on your side to see you through the legal process and clear your name and reputation. Massage insurance provides massage therapists and bodyworkers with all kinds of necessary protection, including malpractice insurance, general liability insurance, product liability insurance and so on.
Protect yourself and your practice against any unexpected occurrences in the future, not only by staying diligent about the safety of your practice, but also by securing a strong massage therapy liability insurance policy.
