Medical malpractice refers to an injury resulting from the negligence of a medical treatment provider. Under the law, a patient who is injured by a doctor or other healthcare provider because of substandard care has a right to compensation for his or her injuries. Substandard medical care is care which deviates from certain medical standards which direct how a health care provider should react to a given situation.
