Medical Services In Florida Hospitals

By: Mac Anderson Home | Health-and-Fitness

Today, a lot of hospitals have opened up would care centers in addition to their existing services. These services are either a part of their main facility or they operate as separate facilities elsewhere. These wound care centers cater to patients who have wounds that do not heal or become chronic.

What is a chronic wound?

A typical wound generally takes between 4 weeks to 6 weeks to heal. The wound could be injury or surgery related. However there are times that these wounds prove problematic and do not heal at all. Non healing wounds could be because of complications with the patient as well. Whatever the cause, a wound care education centre will help take care of such wounds. Some of these centers even have a diagnostic imaging center attached to make diagnosis easier.

Service that you can expect

Wound care education centers like the clinics in Bushnell offer a broad spectrum of services for chronic and non healing wounds. At these centers you will find services that include:
Specialized dressing for wounds
Skin substitutes that are bio engineered
Therapies that include growth factors, negative pressure and antibiotics and
Mist therapy. This is done using ultra sound that is painless.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

For patients where the above mentioned treatments don’t work and where wounds are stubborn and won’t heal, there is an advanced treatment known as Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy that is available at some wound care education centers like clinics in Lecanto. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as it is commonly known is very effective for healing wound like diabetic foot, bone infections that are chronic, skin that has been compromised with flaps and graphs, bone and soft tissue that have been damaged due to radiation, crush injuries and injuries to the bowel, prostrate etc. The treatment is carried out with the help of two hyperbaric chambers. You can expect each session to last for about 2 hours. The total time frame for the treatment depends on the kind of wound and can last for anything between 5 to 6 days to about 6 weeks.

Getting more information

Wound care education centers are located in all major towns. Information on where they are located can be found at local laboratory management services. If you require more information on the kind of services that are offered you can ask for these before visiting the center.
